LTL BILLING GUIDE

How to review an LTL reweigh charge

A reweigh can be legitimate, but the final invoice should still be traceable to the shipment facts and the carrier's measurement record.

1. Compare quoted and billed weight

  • Quoted weight
  • BOL weight
  • Final billed weight
  • Dollar impact of the adjustment

2. Gather your own shipment evidence

Keep packing records, scale tickets when available, dimensions, pallet count, product details and pre-pickup photos if they help establish what actually shipped.

3. Request the carrier's record

  • Scale or reweigh record
  • Date/location of the measurement
  • Any related dimension scan
  • Explanation of how the revised weight changed the rate

4. Dispute the exact mismatch

If your evidence conflicts with the carrier record, identify the precise weight difference and amount in dispute. Attach the documents that support your number.
